TVU Networks has launched Cortex, a content-discovery platform for news organisations with video spread across live feeds, production systems, archives and local bureaux. It presents that material through one visual interface organised around subjects and locations.
AI agents continuously monitor incoming content, enrich associated information and cross-reference material. Journalists can search by what a clip is about instead of remembering a filename, storage path or the team that originally acquired it.
Custom shelves can highlight important stories, while alerts, assignments and planning information connect discovery to active newsroom work. Cortex can automate parts of retrieval and delivery after relevant media is found and is built on the TVU MediaMesh platform.
TVU says the product works alongside existing MAM and newsroom systems, but published material does not define supported connectors, model provenance or permission boundaries. Newsrooms should test false matches, rights metadata, regional access controls and traceability of AI-enriched descriptions.
