Brazilian broadcaster NSC TV is migrating distribution across Santa Catarina from satellite to IP using Appear's X Platform. The TV Globo affiliate is placing an X20 system at its Florianopolis headquarters and main and backup X5 units at five regional sites in Joinville, Blumenau, Criciuma, Chapeco and Joacaba. The six-location design centralises processing and monitoring while preserving regional contribution paths.

At the edge, the X5 systems provide AVC and HEVC encoding and decoding plus Secure Reliable Transport connectivity. The X20 handles processing and aggregation at the central site. Appear says the platform supports 10-bit 4:2:2 video and HDR. Resilience combines duplicated X5 units, switching between internet service providers and SMPTE ST 2022-7 path protection, with central monitoring intended to expose performance and faults across the network.

The technical significance is that NSC is building one IP transport layer for more than linear distribution. SRT feeds from regional locations are intended to reach the Florianopolis production centre for future remote sports and studio workflows. If implemented as described, the same edge encoders and protected paths can carry local live contribution, reducing the need to duplicate production infrastructure while giving engineering teams one operational view of all six sites.

The announcement does not state whether every site has completed cutover, nor does it publish link capacities, contribution bitrates, latency, packet-loss targets or measured availability. Details of ISP diversity, encryption and key management, orchestration, monitoring integrations and disaster recovery are also absent. The selected architecture and proof-of-concept process are confirmed by Appear, but production-scale performance and NSC's timetable for remote production remain open.
