Arkona has integrated its BLADE//runner AT300 platform with Bitfocus Buttons through a native module available as version 1.0.0 in Buttons 1.8.2 and later. The integration covers SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 applications and connects directly to the AT300 rather than presenting a generic button layer. Operators can control internal blade routing and routes to external devices from a physical surface.

The module discovers sources and destinations and can populate Buttons automatically or let an engineer select the endpoints required for a template. Published examples range from straightforward SDI input-to-output switching to breakaway routing of SDI audio into an audio shuffler. Arkona and Bitfocus also provide BLADE//runner-specific configurations, preset templates and collections intended to shorten the path from infrastructure discovery to a usable operator panel.

Control is paired with monitoring. Buttons can display whether inputs and outputs are locked, connected or routed, together with PTP lock, power-supply voltage, CPU load and uptime. Multiple blades can be connected to one environment, identified from the interface and rebooted when needed. The operational significance is that routine switching and first-line status checks can move onto a role-specific surface without exposing every operator to the full engineering control system.

The announcement does not document authentication, permissions, audit logging, alarm handling, redundant controller behaviour or the maximum tested blade and endpoint count. It also gives no measured control latency or recovery behaviour if the Buttons service or its connection to an AT300 fails. Facilities should therefore validate access boundaries, failure modes and feedback timing before assigning the integration to on-air operations. The release confirms useful control-plane functions, but not a complete facility-wide orchestration or resilience design.
