TAG Video Systems says it has reduced latency for uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 monitoring to below two frames at 50 fps and two frames at 59.94 fps, measured from MCM input to MCM output with cyclic intra-refresh encoding. The company will demonstrate the result at IBC2026.
Support for a Mellanox ConnectX-7 card configured as four 200 Gbps ports gives the software an advertised aggregate monitoring capacity of 800 Gbps. TAG is also demonstrating Media eXchange Layer interoperability with AWS, Qvest, Sony and the EBU, alongside audio, colour, HDR and Dolby Vision monitoring tools.
Why it matters
Latency has been one of the practical objections to placing software multiviewing and QC directly inside an uncompressed live production path. A two-frame envelope, if sustained at production scale, brings virtualised monitoring closer to the responsiveness associated with dedicated appliances.
The figures are vendor measurements ahead of a trade-show demonstration. Broadcasters still need to test end-to-end latency, stream density, failure behaviour, host configuration and the operational impact of output encoding under their own workloads.
