swXtch.io will introduce expanded Global SRT Distribution and a native multicast transport service at IBC2026. The SRT service takes responsibility for deployment, routing, replication, monitoring, redundancy and failover after a customer's encoder.
The multicast service uses a publish-and-subscribe model. A sender publishes one native multicast feed and authorised receivers subscribe from other locations, while swXtch.io deploys the network resources needed across carriers, cloud platforms, edge providers and interconnected networks.
Why it matters
SRT is widely supported at the edge, but building resilient multi-destination networks still requires engineering and continuous monitoring. Native multicast is efficient inside a facility yet normally stops at network boundaries. Combining managed SRT with multicast transport could let producers choose the most appropriate model at each end.
The service claims should be tested for packet loss, path failover, timing, observability and security across real carrier combinations. Pricing starts at an advertised monthly level, but event scale, egress and redundancy can materially change total cost.
