Sony Japan has updated its FX5 postponement notice with a target of late October 2026 or later. The change is the first official timeframe attached to the delay after earlier regional listings and dealer estimates pointed to dates in mid-October.
The postponement covers the FX5 body, DVF-EL1 OLED viewfinder, XLR-H2 handle and VMC-BNCU1 timecode adapter. Sony has also paused the associated launch marketing campaign.
For productions planning around the FX5’s open-gate capture, internal X-OCN and production timecode features, the new wording makes the schedule less precise rather than guaranteeing a ship date. Rental houses and buyers should avoid building October jobs around unconfirmed stock.
Sony continues to cite production-related circumstances without identifying the component, software or quality-control issue. Claims circulating about demand, memory supply, earthquakes or defects remain unconfirmed and should not be treated as explanations.
