Sony has introduced two field monitors that combine picture display with direct control of selected Cinema Line cameras. The seven-inch RM-DP7 and five-inch RM-DP5 use Full HD touchscreens rated at up to 2,000 candelas per square metre and accept as many as 16 user LUTs.
Both models provide waveform, vectorscope, false-colour, zebra, peaking and desqueeze tools. Operators can use touch focus, physical buttons, assignable dials and a detachable side-mounted wheel for focus pulls. Wired control runs over Ethernet or USB-C, while selected third-party wireless transmitters can provide a video path.
The DP7 adds 12G-SDI input and output plus bidirectional SDI-HDMI conversion; the DP5 is HDMI-only for video. Initial camera compatibility covers FX5, FX3, FX2 and FX30, with FX6 and Burano support planned for the second half of 2027.
Availability is scheduled for January 2027, so field performance and final firmware compatibility remain unverified. Sony has not yet documented wireless latency across every supported transmitter or whether broader camera support will extend beyond the published roadmap.
