The Professional Triathletes Organisation is developing a shared data layer with Dataworks to support live broadcast graphics and second-screen storytelling. The project aims to replace fragmented timing and performance feeds with information that can surface meaningful race developments as they happen.

PTO took a stake in Dataworks about a year ago and has since expanded the relationship into broadcast graphics. The system is intended to give production teams more context around athletes, splits and changes in performance rather than displaying raw timing alone.

For a Vancouver event, the graphics operation ran remotely from an office environment in London while the necessary camera and production infrastructure remained at the venue. That demonstrates an operational separation between acquisition and data-driven presentation.

The approach matters because niche sports can use richer data to explain tactics and progress without adding more on-site staff. The report does not disclose transport latency, failover design, data accuracy targets or the complete vendor stack, so the resilience of the remote model remains only partially documented.
