Panasonic has announced the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5, a full-frame L-Mount prime lens. The 20mm field of view is intended for wide establishing shots, interiors, landscapes and self-operated video where the camera must remain close to the subject.
The constant F2.5 maximum aperture provides more low-light and depth-of-field control than a typical compact kit zoom at the wide end. Panasonic positions the lens for both photography and video, including lightweight handheld and stabilised rigs.
Its compact design also fills a gap between ultra-wide speciality lenses and the company's broader standard-prime range. The lens is scheduled for October 2026 at a stated European price of €499 and UK price of £429.
The launch material does not replace independent measurements of autofocus breathing, distortion, corner resolution or flare. Video operators should also test focus transition, stabiliser balance and metadata support on the exact L-Mount body they use.
