Nine Entertainment has selected Bitmovin AI Scene Analysis for a catalogue of more than 17,000 assets on its Stan streaming service. The system analyses scenes and produces structured metadata rather than relying only on programme-level descriptions.
Nine intends to use the output for contextual ad placement, search, discovery and programming workflows. One analysis pass can therefore feed both viewer-facing recommendations and internal commercial or editorial systems.
Scene-level metadata can identify changes in setting, subjects and content suitability at a more useful granularity than a single title record. Its operational value, however, depends on consistent taxonomies, confidence thresholds and APIs that can preserve provenance when metadata moves between systems.
The announcement does not publish accuracy measurements, processing time, human-review policy or data-retention terms. It also does not say which decisions will remain advisory and which may be automated, leaving important governance questions open.
