Sony Electronics has formally launched the RIALTO 65 Camera Extension System for VENICE 2, moving the product beyond the development preview shown in June. The CBK-6510XS is tentatively scheduled for the first half of 2027 at an $80,000 US list price. A dedicated VENICE 2 firmware release, version 6.00 or later, will be required.

The system uses a 53.75 by 35.83 mm sensor with an approximately 64.60 mm diagonal, about 2.2 times the imaging area of 35mm full frame. It offers 9.6K 1.5:1 open-gate readout and a 9.6K 2.20:1 mode with a smaller 59.04 mm diagonal for broader lens compatibility. Sony specifies base ISO 2500 and 10000, with more than 15 stops of latitude claimed at ISO 2500.

RIALTO 65 can work as a separate 1.5 kg camera head or attach directly to the VENICE 2 body in Studio Mode. The body continues to provide 16-bit X-OCN recording, AXS media, S-Log3, S-Gamut3 and the existing CineAlta workflow. Lens metadata can pass through a compatible third-party mount adapter, while 11 electronically identified drop-in ND filters and multiple anamorphic de-squeeze options support production use.

The October announcement fixes important details, but availability remains tentative and the final specification can still change. Sony has not named supported mount adapters, and additional sensor readout modes are deferred to later software. The company has published field footage, but no independent rolling-shutter, dynamic-range, thermal or workflow tests are available. The $80,000 price also excludes a VENICE 2 body, lenses and adapters; an extra ND set and 12-metre cable are listed separately.
