Net Insight has added the Nimbra 1020G to its Nimbra Live range, targeting the points where live media enters or leaves a facility, partner network or production environment. The modular 1RU unit combines media processing, Ethernet switching and controlled interconnection.
The company specifies up to 64 channels of SMPTE ST 2110 JPEG XS compression and 600Gbps of lossless switching. It can create as many as 128 isolated switch instances with quality-of-service controls, supporting flows from compressed transport streams to uncompressed UHD essences.
An always-enabled SMPTE RP 2129 Trust Boundary provides service admission, address adaptation, traffic isolation and monitoring between independently managed media networks. Net Insight says payload and timing are preserved while each organisation keeps its own multicast plan, security policy and orchestration domain.
The product fills a smaller scale point beneath the Nimbra 1060 and works with the existing Media Pro App family. Published capacity figures and standards support are confirmed by the vendor, but independent power, latency, interoperability and fault-recovery measurements are not yet available.
