Matrox Video has outlined its NAB2026 software-defined production platform around ORIGIN, an asynchronous media framework that can run processing on commercial servers or cloud infrastructure. MXL compatibility connects the system with emerging Dynamic Media Facility workflows.
The wider showcase includes Monarch EDGE contribution encoders, ConvertIP gateways, Vion processing and Avio2 KVM technology. Together they span live media movement, operator access and conversion between existing and software-defined infrastructure.
Why it matters
A software media fabric is most useful when it can reach the cameras, operators and legacy signals that already exist. Matrox is presenting those edges alongside the compute layer, which makes the architecture more relevant to staged migrations.
What still needs checking
The announcement covers multiple demonstrations rather than one reference design. Measured latency, density, redundancy and exact MXL interoperability should be tested with the intended application set.
