Macnica has demonstrated expanded Linux support for its MEP100 SmartNIC and M2S Media Streaming SDK. A single card can handle as many as 32 uncompressed HD flows in each direction over dual 100GbE links.
PTP timing, SMPTE ST 2110-21 traffic shaping and ST 2022-7 hitless protection run in hardware. Zero-copy DMA avoids intermediate frame buffers, and NVIDIA GPUDirect can place frames directly in GPU memory for graphics, inference or processing.
Moving deterministic media transport away from the host frees CPU and GPU resources for the product’s actual application. The SDK exposes the transport through higher-level APIs so manufacturers do not need to build a complete ST 2110 stack before starting their media function.
Macnica’s figures describe platform capability rather than an independent interoperability result. Developers still need to verify NMOS integration, PTP behaviour, buffer pressure, driver lifecycle and recovery under packet loss with the exact server, switch and GPU combination.
