Macnica and Softron Media Services have launched M|8IP, a bundled SMPTE ST 2110 ingest platform for supported Mac Studio systems. It combines Macnica’s MEP100 SmartNIC with eight licences of Softron MovieRecorder 5, reducing the integration work normally required across card, driver and application layers.
The dual-100GbE card accelerates real-time video, audio and ancillary-data transport outside the host CPU. Macnica quotes as many as 32 uncompressed HD video streams in and 32 out, depending on format and Mac configuration, while the initial software package exposes eight recording channels.
Customers can select firmware for uncompressed ST 2110-20 or ST 2110-22 workflows using Apple ProRes. PTP timing, NMOS IS-04 discovery, IS-05 connection management and SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless protection are included for resilient facility integration.
The vendors also position the system for 8K immersive production, but actual channel density depends on resolution, compression, storage and the selected host. Buyers should validate sustained disk throughput, mixed-format operation, redundancy recovery and macOS driver support with their intended workload.
