Lightstorm Vision has acquired Outsyders, a creative-technology group building an AI-assisted stereoscopic post-production pipeline. The combined operation is intended to handle both new native 3D productions and conversion of existing 2D libraries.
Outsyders says its platform uses real and synthetic data to improve model accuracy while retaining a professional finishing workflow. The company has more than five feature films in progress and previously converted most of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch to 3D in eight weeks.
Lightstorm contributes native capture and production technology, while Outsyders adds scalable conversion. The resulting service aims to reduce the time and cost barrier that has limited cinema-grade stereoscopy for broadcasters, streamers and immersive platforms.
Neither company published transaction terms, quality metrics or the division between automated and artist-led work. Customers will need shot-level tests for occlusion, transparency, motion blur, depth continuity and delivery formats before treating the claimed scale as production proof.
