Libec has introduced two lightweight tripod systems designed to shorten the setup and repositioning process for comparatively heavy camera packages. The Q30B uses a 75mm bowl and the Q50B a 100mm bowl, while both are rated for payloads up to 45 kilograms.
The main mechanical change is Quick Deploy, a ring-operated system that opens or closes the spreader and unlocks the upper leg section in one action. Operators can therefore adjust the footprint and height without visiting several separate clamps, which may be useful when moving quickly between positions.
Libec lists system weights of about 2.9kg for Q30B and 3.0kg for Q50B. The designs include foot pads, a mid-level spreader and accessory mounting points, and the company says the mechanism has undergone more than a year of field testing and includes dust protection.
The systems are expected in October, so long-term durability and real-world torsional stability are not yet independently established. Regional pricing, included bags or heads and exact minimum and maximum heights vary by kit and should be checked against the final shipping specification.
