Leader and PHABRIX have introduced the Sx2 Series, a handheld test platform for 12G, 6G, 3G, 1.5G and 270M-SDI signals. Both models combine pattern generation, analysis and monitoring for 4K, UHD, HD and SD workflows. The Sx2E adds physical-layer analysis, including RTE Real-Time Eye technology, jitter measurement and a 12G loop output.
The unit analyses full 4K UHD over a single coaxial interface and provides a 1920 by 1200 touchscreen, rotary control and recallable presets. Video tools include HDR measurement, waveforms and quad-split monitoring. Audio facilities cover 16-channel metering displays for analysis of as many as 128 channels, plus AES and analogue input metering. A rechargeable user-swappable battery and USB-C charging are intended for field and OB use.
The technical significance is the consolidation of engineering functions that are often split between a rasteriser, generator and dedicated physical-layer instrument. A portable eye display can help isolate cable, connector and signal-integrity faults close to a camera or truck position before they become intermittent on-air problems.
