Insta360 is rolling out Spatial Capture in the United States for the X6, with backward support for the X5 and X4 Air. The feature uses the cameras’ omnidirectional recordings as input for a 3D Gaussian-splat reconstruction rather than asking the operator to capture a space from repeated still-image positions.

Users record a clip of up to two minutes, select it in the Insta360 application and send it for cloud generation. Processing normally takes one to two hours, after which the scene can be explored with touch, a virtual joystick or device motion.

The completed scene supports effects, custom camera paths, conventional video export and an interactive sharing link. For production teams, that lowers the capture barrier for location surveys, virtual backgrounds and spatial inserts, although the output remains a processed reconstruction rather than measured geometry.

The free tier is limited to four generated scenes per month, and pricing beyond that limit has not been announced. Facilities should also examine upload security, reconstruction artefacts, spatial accuracy and the long-term availability of cloud-generated projects before using the workflow for client material.
