Hitomi Broadcast has announced Spectra, a colour-verification system for HDR and SDR production routes. Instead of reading only Video Payload Identifier metadata, the system generates a defined set of colours at the source and analyses the result after the signal has passed through the normal programme chain.
Comparing expected and received values is intended to expose an incorrect LUT, an unexpected conversion or a routing mistake between SDR and HDR paths. That gives engineers an objective end-to-end test through converters, routers, processors and software services, including cases where the picture still looks plausible during a quick visual check.
Spectra extends Hitomi's measurement work beyond lip-sync and timing; the company will also show MatchBox Panorama for centralised delay visibility. The announcement does not provide supported colour spaces, tolerance thresholds, insertion workflow, automation interface or commercial availability.
