Hitomi Broadcast has been selected for an Engineering, Science and Technology Emmy for MatchBox Glass, its iPhone-based audio-video latency generator. The award recognizes the way the app makes a precision lip-sync test source portable enough to place at cameras and contribution points where a fixed pattern generator would be impractical.
MatchBox Glass generates the visual and audio pattern analyzed by Hitomi MatchBox Analyser or Panorama. Because the source runs on a phone, engineers do not have to find a dedicated insertion point in the programme chain. That can shorten checks across large studios, outside broadcasts and remote productions with many sources.
The operational significance is not the phone alone, but the ability to measure the complete path from a real capture position. As IP, cloud and remote processing introduce variable buffering, a portable reference can help teams verify that image and sound remain aligned after routing, encoding and transport.
The award and workflow are confirmed, but the source does not publish measurement accuracy, supported phone models, calibration requirements or comparison data against dedicated generators. MatchBox Glass is also part of a broader Hitomi system, so it should not be read as a standalone analyzer.
