Grass Valley plans to show Dynamic Media Facility principles in operation at IBC2026, using AMPP as the software execution environment and MXL as a low-latency media exchange layer. The emphasis is on making software functions discoverable and composable across vendor boundaries.
The setup uses MXL version 1.1 and NMOS flow discovery while connecting software processing with SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 signals. Grass Valley says the demonstration is multivendor, reflecting the JT-DMF objective of separating media functions from proprietary fixed infrastructure.
Why it matters
Software-defined production becomes materially more useful when applications can share pooled compute and exchange live media without bespoke wiring. Open discovery and connection models could let engineering teams change one function without rebuilding the rest of the chain.
What still needs checking
A trade-show workflow does not establish production-scale determinism. Buyers still need evidence for failure isolation, scheduling, resource contention, timing and support across mixed vendor versions.
