Godox has shown the MG6KR, a 6K full-colour RGBWW fixture that it positions as equivalent in output to a 6K HMI. The lamp head weighs about 25 kilograms and the separate controller approximately 15 kilograms, allowing the light to be moved without one combined enclosure.
The company claims 92% coverage of Rec.2020 from the RGBWW engine. Its PaletteLab fixtures take a related colour-quality approach, using several emitters for the same colour regions to reduce the spectral gaps common in simpler LED sources.
For studios and location crews, wide-gamut control can make mixed-camera matching and saturated virtual-production colours more predictable. Separating the head and controller also changes rigging load and heat placement for high-output fixtures.
Coverage percentages do not describe spectral quality on their own. Independent SSI, TLCI, flicker, dimming, acoustic and thermal measurements are still needed, along with confirmation of shipping specifications for the production units.
