Frame.io has outlined a set of workflow additions led by Frame.io Drive, which presents cloud projects as mounted storage on a workstation. The approach is designed to let creative applications work with remote assets through a familiar file-system view while Frame.io handles access to the underlying media.

The platform is also adding an interactive 3D viewer. Supported formats include USD, USDZ, USDC, USDA, GLB, GLTF and FBX, with the usual Frame.io framework for metadata, comments, versions and sharing applied to the asset.

Spacebar Quick Look now covers all asset types, including 3D, and higher-resolution previews improve inspection of Adobe InDesign documents. Together, the changes extend a review environment originally centred on video into broader design and visual-effects pipelines.

Mounted cloud storage still depends on cache, connectivity and application behaviour. Teams should test file locking, offline changes, version conflicts, large-scene performance and how permissions propagate before treating Drive as equivalent to shared production storage.
