Evertz has introduced ENX, a large-scale routing core designed to handle SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 resources within one system. The architecture uses network interfaces from 10 to 400 GbE and combines switching with processing and monitoring.
Evertz lists configurations up to 1,536x1,536 UHD paths and support for ST 2022-7 protection. The system is positioned as format-agnostic infrastructure for facilities that need to keep baseband equipment while expanding their IP capacity.
Why it matters
A unified core can reduce the operational split between legacy routing and IP fabrics. The attractive number is scale, but the deeper issue is whether engineers get one trustworthy view of routes, timing, alarms and protected paths across formats.
What still needs checking
The published capacity is a platform maximum, not a guarantee for every mix of processing and monitoring. Chassis configuration, power, control design and real failover performance need project-level validation.
