DJI has launched SDR Transmission 2, a software-defined radio video link for camera and gimbal workflows. It carries DCI 4K60 10-bit HDR at up to 50 Mbps, with quoted latency of 35 milliseconds and an ideal-condition range of four kilometres.
Each 136-gram transceiver can operate as transmitter or receiver. One transmitter can serve as many as eight receivers with remote control, and DJI says five transmitters and 40 receivers can operate together for larger productions.
Auto Channel 2.0 scans and allocates spectrum across units, while receivers can switch feeds without re-pairing. Output options include SDI, HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C, and the Ronin app supplies LUTs, waveform, false colour, focus aids and camera control for compatible models.
The quoted range and latency are vendor figures under favourable conditions, and initial availability excludes the United States. Productions should test spectrum congestion, control response, HDR handling, heat, power and legal frequency availability at each location.
