CNBC UK has selected MediaKind Beam for a refresh of the infrastructure that moves live-news feeds between geographically distributed bureaus, studios and downstream production and playout environments. The broadcaster identified latency, resilience and channel density as the main design priorities.
Beam combines media processing at the edge with secure cloud connectivity for central monitoring and management. Its licensing is independent of a particular server, allowing each location to run on appropriately sized commercial off-the-shelf hardware instead of binding capacity to one appliance.
The architecture reflects a broader shift in live news: processing remains close enough to sources for predictable performance, while control and visibility move into a shared cloud layer. The announcement confirms the selection, but it does not disclose rollout dates, codecs, path diversity or measured end-to-end latency.
