Bridge Technologies has added support for monitoring Blackmagic Design's IP10 codec to the VB440 production probe. The companies plan to demonstrate the combination at IBC2026, giving operators a way to inspect IP10 streams inside live SMPTE ST 2110 production environments.
IP10 is designed to carry high-frame-rate Ultra HD video over a 10 Gigabit Ethernet link while retaining 10-bit 4:2:2 signal characteristics. Blackmagic describes the codec as licence-free, open and extremely low latency, with a processing delay measured at eight pixel samples. The practical objective is to reduce the network cost and footprint associated with UHD production where 25GbE or 100/200GbE infrastructure is not available.
The VB440 is already positioned as a software-based production probe for high-capacity IP video analysis. Adding IP10 awareness matters because compressed or lightweight production formats are useful only when engineering teams can see timing, format and signal behaviour with the same confidence they expect from uncompressed ST 2110 paths.
For OB trucks, flypacks and smaller facilities, the combination could offer a more attainable path to UHD-over-IP. The announcement confirms monitoring support and planned demonstrations; it does not yet provide independent interoperability results, supported firmware requirements or deployment data from an on-air customer.
