Blackmagic Design has released version 3.5 of Blackmagic Camera for iOS. The update adds support for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, including control of the variable aperture on the 48-megapixel Fusion main camera.
Aperture control gives operators another direct way to manage exposure and depth of field instead of relying only on shutter, sensitivity and neutral-density accessories. The app also adds recording of Apple ProRes directly to Pro Video Storage.
Version 3.5 can capture Apple Cinematic mode video and includes general performance and stability changes. For mobile news and compact production, those additions move more of the acquisition workflow into the same interface used for exposure, metadata and remote camera management.
The release note does not document every supported ProRes format, storage limit or thermal constraint. Crews should test sustained recording, variable-aperture transitions, metadata transfer and recovery after cable or storage interruption before using the update for irreplaceable material.
