Dream Chip Technologies has added a high-dynamic-range model to its Atom miniature broadcast camera family. The Atom Two HDR is designed to capture high-contrast scenes from positions where a conventional broadcast camera cannot fit, including goal-line mounts and installations inside vehicles.
The company specifies a 14-bit imaging pipeline and direct integration with HDR10 and HLG production. That matters in specialist-camera chains because a small point-of-view camera can otherwise become the weakest colour and highlight-reproduction link in a programme that is mastered in HDR.
The wider Atom Two platform uses a compact global-shutter sensor, low-latency processing, SDI output and remote control. The HDR version is presented as a way to retain highlights and shadow detail while maintaining the size and mounting flexibility required for sports and live-event capture.
The launch information does not yet provide a complete independent specification for the HDR model, including measured dynamic range, sensitivity, noise, lens options, pricing or shipping date. Camera matching and end-to-end latency should therefore be verified in the intended CCU, shading and conversion chain.
