AJA Video Systems has announced OG-FiDO-4, a family of openGear cards that converts four channels between SDI and optical fibre. The range covers 12G-SDI and 3G-SDI with single-mode and multi-mode LC fibre options across nine models.
Each SDI BNC is independent and isolated, so different data rates can run simultaneously on one card. With ten cards in a compatible openGear frame, the design reaches 40 channels of uncompressed transport, concentrating multicamera or facility links without requiring a separate converter for every path.
Ross DashBoard support provides central installation, configuration, monitoring and software service from Windows or macOS. The cards also pass HDR and SDI metadata, detect and reclock signal rates automatically, expose input and SMPTE-lock indicators and remain hot-swappable.
AJA says the cards consume no more than eight watts and will be available soon, starting at US$2,295 and US$2,695 depending on configuration. Buyers still need to confirm the exact optical modules, distance budgets, redundancy design and frame cooling for each deployment.
