Zixi has announced version 19 of its Broadcaster platform for hybrid live-video contribution and distribution. The release is being shown with ZEN Master, the company's control and observability layer for managing transport across on-premises infrastructure, public cloud and partner networks.
The company emphasises hitless and multipath delivery, monitoring and recovery under difficult network conditions. Zixi states that its protocol can operate with packet loss as high as 40 percent in supported scenarios. That is a vendor claim rather than a universal performance guarantee, because usable recovery depends on bitrate, latency budget, path diversity and the pattern of loss.
Why it matters
Live transport estates increasingly mix fixed contribution circuits, public internet, cloud processing and regional distribution. Operators need one view of path health and signal state even when the media crosses several infrastructure owners. Central orchestration can shorten fault isolation, but only if its telemetry is detailed and accessible to existing network and broadcast monitoring systems.
Multipath protection is most valuable when paths do not share the same hidden failure domain. Two internet routes that converge on one access provider or facility power supply may look diverse without delivering real resilience.
What remains open
Zixi's announcement describes the platform direction but does not provide independent benchmarks for v19. Prospective users should test recovery time, latency, API coverage, alert quality and interoperability against their own contribution profiles.
