Bitmovin has published its tenth annual Video Developer Report, based on 486 respondents across broadcast, OTT and adjacent video businesses. The survey says 98% use AI or machine learning somewhere in their video workflow and 46% use AI tools daily.

Transcription, translation and dubbing lead the reported use cases at 48%, followed by recommendations at 34% and visual quality or optimisation at 30%. Low latency for live streaming is now the largest stated challenge at 36%, narrowly ahead of cost control at 35%.

Media over QUIC is attracting attention as teams revisit the transport layer. Twenty-eight per cent of respondents plan to use MoQ during the next year, but Bitmovin says only 2% run it in production. The report frames efficiency and cost at scale, rather than latency alone, as the developing business case.

The figures are survey results, not independent performance measurements. Respondents may over-represent teams already engaged with Bitmovin or new video technology, and planned adoption does not establish operational readiness. Engineers still need codec, cache, browser, observability and failover tests before replacing mature delivery paths.
