TVU Networks has launched TVU Channel On-Prem, a local deployment option for its 24/7 linear and FAST playout platform. The software can run on a TVU appliance or on customer-owned server hardware that meets the required specification.
The announced feature set includes scheduling, playlist management, graphics, ad insertion and multi-destination distribution. TVU says the product is aimed at broadcasters facing data-residency rules, connectivity limits or an existing investment in local compute, as well as temporary and event-based channels that do not need permanent cloud capacity.
Technical significance
The release reflects a broader hybrid trend: operational software is becoming portable while facilities retain control of compute and media paths. Local execution can reduce egress exposure and cloud dependence, but it transfers responsibility for capacity planning, hardware maintenance and site redundancy back to the operator.
What to watch
The starting subscription price does not describe total system cost. Prospective users should confirm supported server configurations, channel density, output formats, redundancy modes, monitoring, upgrade policy and whether cloud and on-prem instances can fail over to each other without manual intervention.
