Tentacle Sync previewed the TRACK E2 field recorder at IBC2026. The compact unit can record in 32-bit float or conventional 24-bit mode, giving crews a choice between wide dynamic-range capture and an established fixed-gain workflow.
Inputs can operate in stereo or mono and accept microphone- or line-level sources. Integrated timecode keeps recorded audio aligned with other Tentacle-equipped devices, while a new OLED screen exposes status information directly on the unit.
A Sound Check function is designed to warn the operator about potential setup problems before recording. Tentacle also says the enclosure offers improved weather protection compared with the previous generation, addressing a practical weakness of small body-mounted recorders.
The product is expected late in 2026, but final pricing, runtime and detailed input specifications are not published. Location teams should test limiter behaviour, RF susceptibility, timecode drift and file recovery before replacing proven recorders in critical shoots.
