Clear-Com has introduced Mentrix Flex, the first product in a new intercom panel line, at NAB Show New York. The panel combines eight physical lever keys, rotary controls and touch functions in a layout described as providing 16 keysets. Clear-Com is positioning the design for broadcast control rooms, outside broadcast vehicles, live events and other production environments where operators need immediate physical access while roles and layouts change between shows.
The panel is built around a dynamic display that can host widgets and visual tools alongside conventional keypanel functions. Integrated USB expands the available connections, while standard VESA mounting allows the unit to be attached to monitor arms, walls or custom furniture. Power over Ethernet removes the need for a separate local power supply, reducing cabling at positions where desk space and installation depth are limited.
Clear-Com also says Mentrix Flex supports Audio over IP for networked intercom workflows. The combination is technically relevant because it puts configurable information and controls on the same operator surface as tactile talk and listen actions. Mentrix is intended to complement, rather than replace, the existing V-Series range, which suggests facilities will need to assess where the new panel fits within current matrix and network designs.
Important deployment details remain unpublished. The announcement does not name the supported AoIP protocols, compatible Clear-Com systems, display resolution, dimensions, power budget or redundancy behaviour. It also gives no pricing, shipping date, authentication model or configuration-management detail. Additional Mentrix panel concepts are planned, but their functions and timing are not defined. On-air buyers should therefore treat the launch as a confirmed product introduction rather than proof of interoperability with every existing intercom installation.
