Element Electronics has launched US smart televisions powered by TiVo OS. The initial range includes 50-inch and 65-inch 4K models, giving TiVo a retail hardware presence in a market dominated by a small number of television operating systems.

TiVo OS is designed around content discovery across services rather than requiring viewers to begin inside an individual application. For broadcasters and streaming platforms, placement in those cross-service results can influence discovery as much as the position of an app tile.

The Element launch also adds another device footprint for TiVo's platform and advertising business. The value to viewers will depend on the supported services, tuner features, update policy and how clearly the interface separates paid promotion from recommendations.

The announcement does not provide long-term software-support commitments or measured panel performance. Buyers should assess picture quality, app coverage, privacy controls and update reliability independently of the operating-system proposition.
