Solid State Logic has released version 4.3 software for its System T broadcast audio platform. The update adds Open Sound Control integration, allowing external devices and applications to trigger or adjust supported console functions through a widely used control protocol.
System capacity also increases to 500 scenes and 48 link groups. SSL has introduced track buses for organising complex production structures and added SolidPitch processing, extending pitch control within the console environment.
Why it matters
OSC can connect a mixing system with automation, graphics, lighting or custom control panels without requiring every workflow to use a proprietary command layer. That flexibility must be paired with network segmentation, access control and careful mapping so an external command cannot make an unintended on-air change.
Larger scene and link-group counts are relevant for multi-format productions, episodic work and events with many acts or language versions. Track buses can help operators separate stems and object groups, especially as broadcast mixes expand beyond conventional channel layouts.
What remains open
SSL's release announcement does not describe every OSC command, authentication control or compatibility condition. Facilities should review the final protocol documentation and test show-file migration, surface behaviour and third-party control before upgrading an active system.
