Shure has released new firmware for Axient Digital PSM that adds a Single Carrier Narrowband digital transmission mode. The option is designed to provide another way to plan reliable in-ear and production monitoring in constrained RF environments.
CueMode enhancements let engineers manage and audition multiple mixes more efficiently from a receiver. The update extends the software capabilities of existing Axient Digital PSM systems rather than requiring a new transmitter platform.
Why it matters
RF spectrum is under pressure at large live and broadcast events, where wireless microphones, intercom and monitoring must coexist. A narrower digital mode can create more planning options, while CueMode reduces the time required to verify performer feeds.
What still needs checking
The best transmission mode depends on local spectrum, channel count, latency and range. Firmware and hardware compatibility should be confirmed before changing a production frequency plan.
