Sennheiser has announced additions to its Spectera wireless audio ecosystem for IBC2026. The SKM handheld transmitter is scheduled for mid-September, extending the system beyond bodypack use. A ZMAN base-station variant with SMPTE ST 2110-30 and AES67 connectivity is planned for October.
The company is also showing Spectera Command features intended to improve operational control. Spectera uses a bidirectional wideband approach, allowing audio, control and monitoring functions to share the wireless system.
Why it matters
A native ST 2110-30 and AES67 connection lets the wireless base station join an IP audio infrastructure without a separate conversion stage. That can simplify routing in modern studios and remote-production hubs, provided timing, discovery and redundancy align with the wider network.
A handheld transmitter is essential for entertainment, presentation and audience formats where a bodypack is not appropriate. Delivery dates are useful, but productions should still validate battery life, RF planning, latency, channel density and coexistence in their local spectrum environment.
What remains open
The announcement gives target availability dates but not every regional certification, pricing detail or final interoperability result. Customers should confirm shipping status and supported ST 2110-30 redundancy behaviour before committing a live production.
