Belgian public broadcaster RTBF has migrated its channels from legacy client-side and server-side insertion to a server-guided ad insertion workflow. The deployed system pairs Ad Insertion Platform's AdBlendr service with Bitmovin's player and uses HLS Interstitials as the standards-based signalling layer.
SGAI lets the service present dynamic ads in long live streams without generating a separate manifest for every viewer. The same workflow also monetises time-shifted playback: during the FIFA World Cup, viewers who rewound a match in the RTBF app could receive an appropriate current advertisement at each opportunity.
Bitmovin playback covers Samsung, LG, Android TV, Fire TV and Hisense televisions as well as browsers, iOS and Android. Red Bee Media coordinated system interfaces, Dotscreen integrated RTBF applications and RMB managed ad sales, while Bitmovin Observability reports performance across platforms.
The report confirms that all RTBF channels are live on the new workflow, making this more than a show demonstration. It does not disclose viewing scale, ad-start latency, failure rates or fallback behaviour, so the operational gain cannot yet be compared quantitatively with RTBF's previous CSAI and SSAI systems.
