Riedel has launched three OnAir headset series designed around different live-production positions. The OnAir 200 is a lightweight single-ear model offered with either a fixed analogue XLR4F connector or a digital USB-C connection, with microphone mute and replaceable parts.
The OnAir 400 is available in single- and dual-ear versions and adds integrated push-to-talk, a reversible layout, a pressure-reducing headband and an exchangeable Mini XLR7 cable. The OnAir 500 targets high-noise locations with passive isolation, two ear-cup push-to-talk buttons and a radio mode.
Putting controls on the headset can reduce the need for an operator to reach a beltpack while working a camera, stage or sideline. Exchangeable cables and service parts also address the practical cost of keeping heavily used communications equipment in rotation.
Riedel has not published full acoustic isolation, microphone rejection, weight, connector pinout or pricing details for every version. Long-shift comfort and intelligibility in real venue noise will need operational testing beyond the launch specification.
