Quickplay has introduced Live Operations as an operator-facing control plane for distributed live channels. The service is intended to replace separate tools for scheduling, signal control, advertising, clip production and monitoring with a single operational console.
Operators can manage events, VOD assets, slates and replays, while the scheduler flags gaps and conflicts. Live controls cover source switching, channel start and stop, slate insertion and manual fallback. SCTE-35 cue handling is connected to ad-break timing and real-time metadata.
When an input falls below configured health thresholds, the system can route the output to a looped VOD asset hosted inside Quickplay rather than relying on the failed source. The broader workflow also links live content to clipping and vertical or social outputs, with AI functions presented as orchestration across several steps rather than a standalone metadata tool.
The launch is relevant to station groups and multi-channel operators that need consistent policies across sites. Quickplay cites TVNZ and Gray Media as users of its wider workflow, but the announcement does not specify which Live Operations functions are in production, nor does it publish recovery times or independent availability data.
