Imagine Communications has expanded its XVR media server into a more complete channel engine. New functions include real-time graphics, master-control switching and HTML5 graphic planes, allowing branding, lower thirds, tickers and data-driven scenes to be rendered in the same platform that handles ingest and playout.
For newsroom use, XVR now connects to NRCS environments through MOS and VDCP. Editors can work with clips while they are still being ingested, and completed media becomes available to playout after sign-off. An assured-ingest mode buffers a live recording internally if external storage is interrupted, then reassembles the recording when connectivity returns.
Imagine is also exposing XVR operations through the Aviator ecosystem's Model Context Protocol layer. Operators can request bulk schedule changes, query live state or fill gaps conversationally, while a governed service layer constrains what the agent can do. At IBC, an interoperability demonstration connects Appear VX contribution to multiple XVR engines through the JT-DMF Media Exchange Layer. The feature set is technically broad, but exact release versions, limits, redundancy behaviour and customer deployment evidence remain unspecified.
