Berlin's Friedrichstadt-Palast has installed a Riedel production infrastructure spanning video transport, intercom, control and distributed I/O. Systems integrator Protones implemented the project for a theatre that runs seven or eight performances a week and has short turnarounds between shows.
The video layer combines MediorNet HorizoN, MicroN UHD and FusioN in a hybrid TDM and IP architecture. That allows legacy and networked signal paths to coexist while camera images and other production feeds are routed across the venue.
Communications centre on an Artist-1024 matrix with more than 30 SmartPanels, nearly 80 Bolero wireless beltpacks and about 40 antennas covering front of house, stage and backstage. StageLink interfaces connect additional audio and intercom endpoints. A clustered hi control system is operated from the same SmartPanels through the Control Panel App.
The deployment is confirmed in daily operation, but the public case study does not specify network redundancy, bandwidth, failover tests or how the control cluster behaves during component loss. Those details matter in a venue where there may be only an hour between performances.
