Australian media company Foxtel has selected BCNEXXT's Vipe platform for 38 channels covering thematic schedules, live events and special-event services. The system will also support on-demand libraries from the same cloud-oriented operating environment.
Vipe allocates processing according to channel requirements rather than reserving a fixed appliance chain for every service. That can be useful when a stable thematic channel and a short-lived sports or event channel have very different peaks, schedules and operational life cycles.
The platform is designed for public cloud, private cloud or hybrid deployment and brings linear, live, VOD and OTT functions into one control model. Foxtel says flexibility, rapid time to value, user experience and cloud resource efficiency were important in a competitive evaluation.
The selection is confirmed, but the announcement does not state the hosting provider, launch date, redundancy regions, legacy migration plan or which 38 services are included. No before-and-after cost, reliability or staffing data has been published.
