ENCO has outlined an IBC2026 product set centred on automated captioning, translation and content extraction. enCaption Sierra is a hybrid appliance intended to combine local operation with cloud-connected capabilities, while Raptor provides captioning as a cloud service.
The company is also presenting enSpeak for live translation and will preview a system that identifies and extracts clips from live programming. Together, the tools address accessibility, multilingual distribution and the growing demand to turn long live programmes into shorter digital assets.
Why it matters
Captioning is a time-critical part of the transmission chain. A hybrid model can keep essential processing near the facility while allowing flexible language or scaling services in the cloud. Broadcasters still need a clear failure mode when connectivity is lost and a way for operators to monitor confidence, delay and output continuity.
Translation adds another editorial risk because accurate words do not always preserve names, nuance or context. Automated clip extraction can speed publishing, but human oversight remains important for sensitive events and for deciding whether a short segment faithfully represents the original programme.
What remains open
ENCO has not supplied independent accuracy figures across languages and acoustic conditions. The clip-extraction capability is described as a preview, so final availability, integration detail and commercial terms remain to be confirmed.
