United Airlines has partnered with Dish to deliver live professional and college football to Starlink-enabled seatback screens. The channel package includes major US broadcast networks, sports networks and Prime Video’s Thursday game coverage.

Dish supplies the OnStream distribution platform while Starlink carries the service to aircraft. United says live television and Wi-Fi are already active on more than 220 mainline aircraft, serving as many as 700 flights per day.

The airline expects almost 700 mainline aircraft to have the seatback service by the 2027 Super Bowl, while passengers can simultaneously use Starlink on phones, tablets and laptops. The deployment treats inflight connectivity as a multi-screen live distribution network rather than a download-only entertainment system.

The announcement does not disclose per-aircraft bitrate, multicast or unicast design, latency, rights handling or failover when satellite visibility is impaired. Those factors determine how consistently several live games can coexist with general passenger internet traffic.
