NTP Technology has announced an audio-over-IP expansion card that adds SMPTE ST 2110-30, RAVENNA and AES67 connectivity to Digital Audio Denmark Thunder Core, Penta and AX32 interfaces. At 44.1 or 48kHz, it provides as many as 128 input and 128 output channels.
Two Ethernet ports can operate as a switch or as redundant network connections using SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless protection switching. PTPv2 provides timing, while NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 support discovery and connection management in managed broadcast-IP environments.
A bidirectional sample-rate converter is included for exchanging audio between networks or clock domains that are not synchronised. Signals then remain available to the host interface's routing, monitoring, preamplifier control and format-conversion functions.
The feature set is documented, but the announcement does not state link speed, packet-time options, latency through sample-rate conversion, NMOS certification results, pricing or shipping quantities. Interoperability should be tested against the intended PTP and network-controller design.
