Cloudbass has placed Calrec audio systems at the centre of two new hybrid outside-broadcast units, OB20 and OB21. The fleet was designed by dB Broadcast for a contract to cover 104 football matches per season over four years.
OB20 carries a 48-fader Argo M, two ImPulse1 cores and an RP1 remote-production engine. OB21 uses a 24-fader Argo M and a second RP1. Both trucks are built around SMPTE ST 2110, allowing audio, cameras and other production systems to share the same switched network layer.
Cloudbass says the IP design simplifies changes between jobs because production devices can be connected through the same field switching infrastructure. The smaller OB21 has already been scheduled across successive weekend matches at different venues, making setup speed an operational requirement rather than a lab goal.
The deployment illustrates how compact surfaces and distributed processing can reduce the physical footprint of premium sports audio without abandoning dedicated broadcast control. The report does not disclose network redundancy design, channel counts under peak loads or independent availability data.
